Professional Profile
Elena brings over 30 years of experience as a State Attorney (Abogado del Estado), legal counsel, arbitrator, and independent board member. She has also held senior executive positions, including Executive Director and member of Executive Committees (ExCo), leading legal and public affairs functions at prominent companies and private equity firms.
Her experience spans multiple sectors, including education, construction and infrastructure, telecommunications, and hospitality.
She is distinguished by her extensive and well-rounded expertise, combining legal, institutional, and business perspectives. This enables her to address and lead complex business challenges with both rigorous legal analysis and a strong understanding of economic and commercial realities.
Education and Public Service
She holds a Law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid, graduating with top honors (Extraordinary Award, 1.991).
Joined the Spanish Government Attorney Office (LinkedIn) in 1.993, after passing the corresponding competitive examination.
Elena has completed various programs in business and finance, such as the Senior Management Program at IESE Business School, or the Banking and Finance Program at London Metropolitan University.
Native Spanish speaker, fluent in English (Cambridge Proficiency), and highly proficient in French (Niveau Supérieur La Sorbonne).
Professional and Business Experience
As a State Attorney, she has served in a variety of roles, notably representing the Government of Spain before the National Court and the Supreme Court for over 15 years, handling highly relevant economic, tax, and regulatory matters.
She has also practiced for more than 15 years as legal counsel and arbitrator in complex civil and commercial matters.
In the corporate sphere, she has held senior leadership roles, including General Secretary at leading organizations such as CEU and SACYR, as well as Head of Legal and External Affairs at Vodafone Spain.
Institutional activity and in the arbitration field
She currently serves as Chairwoman of the Spanish Court of Arbitration (CEA), part of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
She is Deputy Chair of CIAM-CIAR (Madrid International Arbitration Center – Ibero-American Arbitration Center) and a member of the Advisory Board of CIAMEN (International Centre for Arbitration, Mediation and Negotiation at the San Pablo-CEU University, Madrid).
She is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Women’s Commission of the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club (CEIA), which she founded and chaired as its first President in 2016.
Board Memberships and Other Corporate Responsibilities
Elena is an Independent Director of Tinsa Spain (Accumin Group), a global leader in valuation, advisory, and real estate software services.
She served as an Independent Director of the listed company Línea Directa Aseguradora from 2021 to 2025.
She is also Legal Counsel at ILANGA Capital, a private equity firm focused on hospitality and wellness.
